“Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.”

Technical word (तकनीकी शब्द)

Range scan
The Stanford Bunny is a computer graphics test model (GTM) for 3-D graphics. The Bunny is a data-set for constructing digital, three dimensional models. The original model for the Bunny was a clay rabbit figure. The data from the clay rabbit was collected by using a technique called range scan that was developed by Greg Turk of Georgia Institute of Technology and Marc Levoy of Stanford University.

In a range scan, the color or shade of each pixel represents a specific radial distance, technically known as range, from the observer's point of view. Mathematically, the range scan of the original clay rabbit is a collection of 69,451 triangles. The paper version below is a simple illustration of how a programmer might use shade data from a range scan to re-create the bunny.

Ransomware
Ransomware is malware for data kidnapping, an exploit in which the attacker encrypts the victim's data and demands payment for the decryption key.

A ransomware program can be installed from an e-mail attachment, an infected program, or a compromised Web site. Malware used for this purpose is sometimes called a cryptovirus, cryptotrojan or cryptoworm.

Rack-mounted
Rack-mounted describes a unit of electronic equipment that is housed in a metal framework called an equipment rack. Usually, an equipment rack contains multiple "bays," each designed to hold a unit of equipment such as a computer server . Typically, the equipment unit is mounted (inserted into a bay in the rack) and secured in place with screws.

RBGAN
RBGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) is a mobile communications system created to transmit broadband wireless voice and data communications almost anywhere on the earth's surface. The system, developed by Immarsat, Inc., consists of a constellation of geostationary satellites working in conjunction with portable, lightweight, surface-based terminals about the size of a laptop.

BGAN was developed to provide cost-effective connectivity in remote locations where cellular and wireless data networks do not currently exist . The system works anywhere on the planet, in fact, but the regions immediately surrounding the north and south geographic poles. Regional BGAN (R-BGAN) is currently deployed across Europe; the global BGAN system is expected to be fully operational by the middle of 2006.

Racemi
Racemi (pronounced "Ray-SEE-me") is a data center software vendor that specializes in cloud provisioning and cloud migration products.

Racemi’s products enable physical-to-cloud (P2C), cloud-to-physical (C2P) and cloud-to-cloud (C2C) migration. The company’s products support Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, GoGrid and Terremark cloud infrastructure services.

RACE
Rapid Access Computing Environment (RACE) is a United States federal government infra

structure-as-a-service (IaaS) initiative for developing and testing new Department of Defense (DoD) software applications. RACE is managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a government service provider that supplies and supports battlefield command-and-control systems and information technology (IT) for most of the Department of Defense's business applications.

The goal of RACE is to enable Department of Defense computer programmers to purchase server space on demand by using a secure Web portal and a cloud computing delivery model.

RTFM
(Read The F***ing Manual) - A commonly used abbreviation in online forums and email, in response to foolish questions or questions already answered in the FAQ.

RAC
Real Application Cluster (RAC) is a component of the Oracle 9i database product that allows a database to be installed across multiple servers. According to Oracle, RAC's shared disk method of clustering databases: increases scalability because servers can easily be added or subtracted to meet current needs, lowers costs because companies don't have to buy high-end servers, and improves availability because if one server fails, another can assume its workload.

RAC's shared disk architecture is an unusual approach to database clustering. Most competing database products (such as Microsoft's SQL Server and IBM's DB2 for Windows and Unix environments) use the alternative, which is known as "shared nothing" architecture. Shared nothing architecture partitions data and only gives each server access to its own disk subsystem, while shared disk architecture gives all servers access to the entire database.

Rabbit hole
A rabbit hole, in a metaphorical sense, is a long and winding exploratory path with many connections and offshoots.

The term rabbit hole is often used to describe online activities. The Web was essentially designed to function as a rabbit hole because of the way hyperlinks work, and Web surfing in general can be considered a voluntary trip down the rabbit hole. More purposeful examples of activities that tend to follow such paths include Web analytics, data analytics and various types of research. Interactive voice response (IVR) systems and help desk calls are among the other types of rabbit holes that people enter intentionally, if somewhat reluctantly.

RFC
(Request For Comments) - The process for creating a standard on the Internet and the name of the result. New standards are proposed and published online, as a Request For Comments. Any new standards that are established retain the acronym RFC. For example, the official standard for email is RFC 822.

RA
A registration authority (RA) is an authority in a network that verifies user requests for a digital certificate and tells the certificate authority (CA) to issue it. RAs are part of a public key infrastructure (PKI), a networked system that enables companies and users to exchange information and money safely and securely. The digital certificate contains a public key that is used to encrypt and decrypt messages and digital signatures.

Register
To pay a software company for a product to receive the full working copy. Registration is most often required for shareware programs, which may be partially disabled or contain "nags" until registered.

Snapshot
While the term "snapshot" is often used in photography, it is also a computing term that refers to a copy made of a disk drive at a specific moment in time. Snapshots are useful for backing up data at different intervals, which allows information to be recovered from different periods of time.

A hard drive snapshot includes the full directory structure of a hard disk, including all folders and files on the disk. This type of backup may also be referred to as a "disk image." Disk images allow the full disk to be restored in case the primary disk fails.

SaaS
Stands for "Software as a Service." SaaS is software that is deployed over the Internet rather than installed on a computer. It is often used for enterprise applications that are distributed to multiple users. SaaS applications typically run within a Web browser, which means users only need a compatible browser in order to access the software.

SaaS is considered part of cloud computing since the software is hosted on the Internet, or the "cloud." Because SaaS applications are accessed from a remote server rather than installed on individual machines, it is easy to maintain the software for multiple users.

Common Mistakes To Be Avoided (आम गलतियों को टाला जा सकता)

Of Off

The words ‘of’ and ‘off’ are used so frequently in modern English that people often confuse them. For example, the sentence, ‘He took off without a word’ could be mistakenly written as ‘He took of without a word’, and the meaning would be lost. Let us discuss the distinctions between the two words.

The word ‘of’ has several functions, but it is most in use as a preposition that denotes various relations described in the sentence. For instance, it indicates a point of reckoning: ‘South of the border.’ It is also commonly used to point out what something is made of or what it contains: ‘Heart of gold’ (this is metaphorical, of course), ‘Cup of tea’. Another relation frequently described by ‘of’ is that of possession, as in ‘Queen of England.’

‘Off’ is also a very common word with large number of functions as well, but it is most frequently used as an adverb or a preposition. As an adverb, it is used usually to describe a state of discontinuance, or suspension: ‘Turn off the light.’ As a preposition, it is used to indicate the physical separation or distance from a position of rest, attachment or union, as in ‘Take it off the table’ or ‘The gas station is just off the corner ahead.’

English Improving ,Tips of the Lesson (अंग्रेजी में सुधार, दिन की टिप्स)

Concrete Words

In writing, there are countless combinations of nouns, verbs, tenses, and other options to use. There are also concrete and abstract words. While abstract words merely point to something that has no physical being and refer to thoughts or actions that cannot be felt with the senses, concrete words are those involving persons, animals, or objects. These are words that appeal to the senses. Examples include spoon, table, apple, or heat. Because there are many things that you need to keep in mind while writing, here are tips to help you understand the benefits of using concrete words in your writing, and to help you distinguish between what is concrete and what is abstract.

Understanding Abstract Words

This is not as simple as it may initially seem. "Abstract" does not include everything that does not have a physical being. Heat, for example, is a concrete word, because you can feel heat. Freedom, however, is an abstract word, because one cannot measure it or show it to someone. Even though concrete words are critically important in writing, you cannot forget to take advantage of abstract words. Once you understand abstract words, concrete words will be easier to distinguish as well.

Using Concrete Words to Show, Not Tell

In writing, you want to strive for showing and not telling. Concrete words can show how an abstract word, like a feeling, affects a character. Even though abstract words have their place in writing, you want to be careful not to over use them. You can work to change an abstract idea into a concrete image. Instead of writing about how a girl was sad because she missed her mother, write how the girl reacted to missing her mother. Was she crying? Was she throwing a temper tantrum? Use these concrete words to show how a character portrays an abstract word.

Concrete Words Tell a Story Through Imagery

Instead of writing that the protagonist was truthful, use imagery to write how she was truthful. She could have returned to pay for a mistaken item at a store, or told the truth even though it was not beneficial for her. Use nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs to write a piece of work that uses imagery in place of abstract concepts. This is not to say you should never use abstract words, because they do have their place, but rather strive for a balance between concrete and abstract words in your writing.
