Quote of the Lesson (दिन के उद्धरण)

“A ship in harbor is safe . . . but that is not what ships are for.”

    “बंदरगाह में खड़ा जलयान सुरक्षित होता है..... जलयान वहां खड़े रहने के लिए नहीं बने होते हैं.”

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

    “भविष्य उनका है जो अपने सपनों की सुंदरता में यकीन करते हैं.”

“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start my friend, anyone can start from now and make a brand new end.”

    “हालांकि कोई भी व्यक्ति अतीत में जाकर नई शुरुआत नहीं कर सकता है, लेकिन कोई भी व्यक्ति अभी शुरुआत कर सकता है और एक नया अंत प्राप्त कर सकता है.”

“To conquer oneself is the noblest and greatest triumph.”

    “स्वयं पर विजय प्राप्त कर लेना सबसे श्रेष्ठ और महानतम विजय होती है.”

“An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast: a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.”

    “किसी जंगली जानवर की तुलना में निष्ठाहीन तथा बुरी प्रवृतियों वाले मित्र से अधिक डरना चाहिए क्योंकि जंगली जानवर आपके शरीर को चोट पहुंचाएगा लेकिन बुरा मित्र तो आपके मन-मस्तिष्क को घायल करेगा.”

HTML
(HyperText Markup Language) - The language used to build hypertext documents on the WWW. They are nothing more than plain ASCII-text documents interpreted (or rendered) by a web browser to display formatted text and fonts, color, graphic images, and links.

HTTP
(HyperText Transfer Protocol) - The protocol for moving hypertext (HTML) files across the Internet. This requires a HTTP client program on one end and a HTTP server program on the other end. HTTP is the most important protocol used on the WWW.

Hypertext
Text in a document that contains a link to other text. Hypertext is used in Windows help programs and CD encyclopedias as well as web pages to link and reference related information across documents.

hackathon
A hackathon, also known as a codefest, is a social coding event that brings computer programmers and other interested people together to improve upon or build a new software program.
The word hackathon is a portmanteau of the words hack, which means clever programmer and marathon, an event marked by endurance.
The concept of the hackathon was born out of the open source community. ToLesson, engineering departments, especially those at Web-based companies, adopt the practice as a way of introducing intrapreneurship into the enterprise. Hackathons are sometimes undertaken to achieve a specific goal, but often they are a chance for businesses to pursue employee-driven, out-of-the-box ideas in a low-risk environment. Employees are given the freedom and support to collaborate with colleagues in other departments within a given timeframe and without the pressure of having to produce a viable product.

hacker
Hacker is a term used by some to mean "a clever programmer" and by others, especially those in popular media, to mean "someone who tries to break into computer systems."

hackerazzi
Hackerazzi are cybercriminals who hack into the email accounts of celebrities to access and exploit their private information. Hackerazzi derives from paparazzi, a term for photo journalists who follow celebrities.
A year-long FBI investigation into celebrity hackings, called Operation Hackerazzi, resulted in the indictment of Christopher Chaney of Jacksonville, Florida on charges of illegally accessing the accounts of more than 50 individuals in the entertainment industry, including Christina Aguilera, Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis.

hacktivism
Hacktivism is the act of hacking, or breaking into a computer system, for a politically or socially motivated purpose. The individual who performs an act of hacktivism is said to be a hacktivist.
A hacktivist uses the same tools and techniques as a hacker, but does so in order to disrupt services and bring attention to a political or social cause. For example, one might leave a highly visible message on the home page of a Web site that gets a lot of traffic or which embodies a point-of-view that is being opposed. Or one might launch a denial-of-service attack to disrupt traffic to a particular site.

Hadoop
Hadoop is a free, Java-based programming framework that supports the processing of large data sets in a distributed computing environment. It is part of the Apache project sponsored by the Apache Software Foundation.
Hadoop makes it possible to run applications on systems with thousands of nodes involving thousands of terabytes. Its distributed file system facilitates rapid data transfer rates among nodes and allows the system to continue operating uninterrupted in case of a node failure. This approach lowers the risk of catastrophic system failure, even if a significant number of nodes become inoperative.

HailStorm
Part of Microsoft's .Net initiative, HailStorm is the company's plan to provide a single place on the Web where any individual user (who pays a fee) may securely store personal and financial information that can be shared with others when desired (for example, to pay for something at an online store). HailStorm makes use of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) and the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).
The initial set of HailStorm services includes the storing of subscribers' personal information, contacts, locations, profiles, favorite Web sites, and device settings. HailStorm also can provide calendar services and management of inbox items such as e-mail and voice mail. Users pay for all selected services.

About a year ago. She lives in an apartment on 3rd street, across from the public library.
Henry: अच्छा. अब लगभग पाँच बजे हो गया है. क्या आपको नहीं लगता कि बहुत ट्रैफिक होगी?
I see. It's almost 5:00 PM now, don't you think there will be a lot of traffic?

Julie: सचमुच? क्या आपके पास लाइसेंस नहीं है? मैंने सोचा था कि सबके पास लाइसेंस है
Really? You don't have a license? I thought everyone had a license.
Michael: नहीं, मैं अपनी पूरी ज़िन्दगी बहुत शहरों में रहा हूँ और जब मैं अपने शहर में हूँ तब आमतौर से बस या सबवे लेता हूँ
No, I've lived in cities all my life and when I'm at home I usually take the subway or bus.

Michael: मैं और सफ़र करना चाहता हूँ. मैं यहाँ थोड़े महीने रह चुका हूँ और मुझे ऐसा लगता है कि मैंने कुछ देखा ही नहीं

Julie: आप गाडी चलाना कैसे सीखने जा रहे है? क्या आप चाहते है कि मैं आपको सिखाऊँ?

No, I wouldn't want to trouble you. I've already signed up for a class near my house. It starts next month.

English Improving ,Tips of the Lesson (अंग्रेजी में सुधार, दिन की टिप्स)

Read and write more

There is a direct correlation between how a person spells and how much the person reads. With reading, you are exposed to a large variety of words, from simple to complex. If you are paying attention to the content of the text, your brain processes the information, especially when it is exposed to the same word many times over. This repetition is how you will retain the spelling of many words. Keep your options open: Read a variety of material like books, newspapers, and magazines to stay interested and alert.

This same idea is true with writing. During the writing process, you will sometimes find that a misspelled word just doesn't look right, which will prompt you to look up it in a dictionary. Over a little time, the words you look up will become ingrained in your memory.

Remember a few rules

There are some rules that apply to many words in the English language.

1) "i" before "e," except after "c" or when sounding like "-ay" as in "neighbor" and "way."

The first part of this saying ("i" before "e") is illustrated in words like piece, field, and fierce; exceptions to this would be weird, vein, and height.

"Except after 'c'" words are conceive, receipt, and perceive; exceptions include species, efficient, and science.

Some examples of "sounding like '-ay'" are freight and sleigh.

2) "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking."

This means that when two vowels are next to each other, the first vowel's long sound is pronounced and the second vowel is silent.

3) When the last three letters of a word end with a vowel, a consonant, and an "e," the vowel will be pronounced with the long sound and the "e" will be silent.

Included in this group: crate, cute, site, officiate, promote

Know your homophones

Homophones are words that sound alike but are spelled differently and have different meanings. There are two sets in particular that tend to give many people a lot of trouble: you're / your and they're / there/ their

The best way to check if the contractions above (you're and they're) are the right words to use is to separate them into their two original words (you are, they are) and see if this form fits into the sentence. Your and their: these are possessive pronouns; if you want to show ownership in your sentence, these are the words to use.
